Group of people in a Workshop discussing how AI can help your business.

If AI in your organisation currently looks like a slide deck, a pilot that went nowhere, or a vendor demo you didn’t ask for, you’re not behind. You’re experiencing the most common problem: AI is being approached as technology, not as operational relief.

Let’s make this simple.

What your teams are really feeling (but not saying in the meeting)

Operations: “We’re firefighting. Every ‘quick fix’ becomes permanent.”  Customer service: “We’re drowning in repeat queries and messy handoffs.”  Finance: “We’re reconciling the same issues every month because the data doesn’t match.”  HR / People: “We’re buried in admin, not supporting people.”  Tech: “We’re expected to ‘do AI’ without clean data, time, or a clear problem.”

And the leadership version of all of that is: “We can’t see where the time and money are leaking, but we can feel it.”

The truth: your best AI use cases aren’t exciting. They’re expensive.

Not in cash. In wasted hours, duplicated effort, avoidable errors, and slow decisions.

Look for AI opportunities where you already have:

  • Manual workarounds people rely on to survive

  • Copy/paste workflows between systems

  • Spreadsheet “truth” because reporting is painful

  • Backlogs caused by triage, chasing info, rework

  • Handoffs between teams that create delays and mistakes

If a process makes good people feel incompetent, it’s a prime candidate.

Quick self-check (30 seconds)

Which of these is most true for you right now?

  1. “We have too many AI ideas and no way to choose.”

  2. “We have one AI idea, but we don’t trust the data.”

  3. “We tried something and couldn’t prove impact.”

  4. “We don’t know where to start without wasting money.”

If you picked any of these, you don’t need more inspiration. You need a way to surface, prioritise, and prove what’s already there.

The mistake that kills momentum

Most organisations start here: “What AI tool should we use?”  The better starting question is: “Where is friction costing us the most?”

Because when you anchor on pain, you get:

  • clearer use cases

  • faster stakeholder alignment

  • better data decisions

  • measurable outcomes

How we help you uncover the “hidden wins”

Waymark’s AI Impact Framework is built to move you from AI ambition to measurable outcomes using a human-centred, vendor-agnostic approach.
